Ezekiel, Prophets and Bears, Oh My!
Thursday Jun 13, 2019
Thursday Jun 13, 2019
We are beginning a month(s) long series looking at Ezekiel. More specifically, we are engaging Ezekiel in such a way, that we might see and experience Jesus differently in the book of John. (We'll explain later). So, as starting place, on this week's episode we sat down to talk a bit about the Old Testament prophets. We examine some of our misconceptions, our first impressions and what it might mean to see the world through the lens offered by Ezekiel. Oh yeah, and then there are dung cakes.
Here's the quote from Walter Brueggemann mentioned in this episode:
“[A prophet is] someone that tries to articulate the world as though God were really active in the world. And, that means on the one hand, to identify those parts of our world order that are contradictory to God, but on the other hand, it means to talk about the will and purpose that God has for the world that will indeed come to fruition even in circumstances that we can’t imagine. So, what that gives you is both judgement and hope, and as you know very well, the prophetic books of the Old Testament are always that combination of judgement and hope, which I think, in Christian tradition, factors out as crucifixion and resurrection.”

Also on this episode: we have our first ever listener call in (sort of), some fellow CCC'ers earn GOLD STARS on Jeremy's board and... Ben gets a prayer rope.

A Guided Practice - Silence and Solitude
Thursday May 16, 2019
Thursday May 16, 2019
Heads up: this episode is a bit different.
In lieu of our normal "everyday conversations," this episode is a guided practice of silence and solitude from 2 Corinthians Chapter 5. Our church is spending all month practicing and integrating silence and solitude into our lives--all with the aim to "be with Jesus." So, step away for 10 minutes, relax, and sit still before the Lord as scripture washes over you.

Easter, American consumerism, and Sam Harris walk into a bar...
Thursday Apr 18, 2019
Thursday Apr 18, 2019
What happens when Easter, American consumerism and Sam Harris walk into a bar?
With a little help from author Flemming Rutledge, in this week's episode Chaz, Ben, and Chris sat down to talk a bit about Good Friday and Easter. How does the cross of Christ disrupt our nominal notions of Christianity? Do we lose something when we skip the cross and jump right to the resurrection?

Wednesday Apr 03, 2019
To close out our time in Colossians we had a brief conversation, asking: what was most memorable or difficult? And, what are you now trying to put into practice in light of Colossians? And... Rori likes Homer-Hamburger-Watches.
